Yumi Kim Black Botanical Liz Romper c/o -- Philip Lim for Target Bag -- Lace-up Combat booties (similar here)

I love a good floral- and when the weather gets colder, a moody botanical floral is pretty much the ultimate for me. Throw in some kimono sleeves, silk fabric, and it's all over. Yumi Kim hit the nail on the head with this one, and it's no surprise. YK is the brand go-to for sophisticated printed rompers and dresses. Remember Kelley's dress from her birthday post? Yep, that was a Yumi Kim. I love that this romper works just as well in DC autumn as it will on the balmy Caribbean cruise I'll be sailing on next month. That kind of double duty utility is always worth getting excited about!

Kirna Zabete for Target faux leather skirt -- Alice + Olivia Suede Over-the-knee boots -- Nasty Gal Baroque Sweater

Remember this leather skirt from the summer? This time I styled it with cooler temperatures in mind for a meeting and some shopping in Georgetown.  I kept it primarily head-to-toe black but broke it up with the baroque pattern on one of my favorite sweaters. That thing is super warm and always makes a great graphic impact!

Reiss Cardigan -- Ann Taylor pants -- VS Coat -- ASOS booties

Youthful workwear pieces.  Whenever I find an item that falls into this category, I snatch it up.  While an all-black outfit is typically not what I gravitate towards, the varied textures and updated classics of the almost-precious Reiss cardigan with its poofed shoulders and modern faux-leather accented Ann Taylor pants (purchase here) resulted in this life-friendly outfit.  These two labels are among my absolute favorites for tailored, great quality, reasonably priced workwear pieces.

balloons & sprinkles

You know those days when you realize how lucky you are?  That is how I feel every year on the fifth of October.  After an early morning followed by endless work and errands, I was swept away to a night of birthday surprise and excitement, orchestrated in secret by Steph and my boyfriend.  My wardrobe choice was an incredibly easy decision for me - this beautiful printed silk dress with a sprinkle-like pattern by Yumi Kim made me feel elegantly modern after a frazzled day.  I foresee myself purchasing future birthday outfits from this fun, well-made, and beautifully designed label.

Old friends, new friends, and family made it an exceptional night for me.  Thank you <3.
